Erratum: Notice of Redundant Publication

The American Journal of Sports Medicine wishes to inform its readers of the following incident of redundant publication.

The following publication:

Dunkin BS, Nyland J, Duffee AR, Brunelli JA, Burden R, Caborn D. Soft tissue tendon graft fixation in serially dilated or extraction-drilled tibial tunnels: a porcine model study using high-resolution quantitative computerized tomography. Am J Sports Med. 2007;35:448–457,[Abstract/Free Full Text]

contains substantial data also reported in the previously published article,

Duffee AR, Brunelli JA, Nyland J, Burden R, Nawab A, Caborn D. Soft tissue tendon graft fixation in step dilated or extraction drilled tibial tunnels: a porcine model study using high resolution quantitative computerized tomography. Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc. 2007;15:17–25,[CrossRef][ISI][Medline][Order article via Infotrieve]

without referencing the prior publication. Although Dunkin et al report additional findings not contained in Duffee et al, The American Journal of Sports Medicine regrets that the earlier publication was not referenced by Dunkin et al. The editors of The American Journal of Sports Medicine were not informed by the authors of the prior publication and discovered the redundancy only after Dunkin et al was submitted, accepted, and published.
